I joined Ole for this cruise to the Subantarctic islands of New Zeeland, probably the best area for seabirds anywhere in the world! Thanks to Ole’s dedication and knowledge, we made the best out of the opportunities provided by strict conservation regulations and difficult weather conditions. We had superb encounters with albatrosses and penguins, and it was a privilege to visit these remote and truly unique islands. We also had a very nice post-trip to Tasmania, where we found all but one endemic bird, and had some great photo opportunities. If you’re really into bird- and wildlife photography, it’s a big difference from just joining a tourist cruise to one of Ole’s trips. Highly recommended!

Hi Kjetil
Stunning photos from New Zealand.
Is all the flying Albatrosses shown here photographed from the boat “Spirit of Enderby”
Which focal length will you recommend for the flying birds?
Best regards
Klaus Bjerre/Denmark
Hi Klaus
All of these are photographed from The Spirit of Enderby. My favorite lens for pelagic birds is the 500mm f4. For albatrosses a 300mm will do, but for smaller birds such as petrels and prions you ‘need’ at least 500mm.
