Nikon D800 high ISO

Many photographers have asked me about how the new Nikon D800 is performing at high ISO-settings. With an impressive image sensor of 36 MP I was expecting this camera to be not that good on settings above ISO 2500, but the tests and “real life” photography I’ve done so far is better than I’ve ever dreamt of.

What I’m looking after in my images is how the ISO noise is visible especially in the shadows, but also how accurate the colors are with high ISO-settings. I have only done a SMALL studio test today with my friend Einar Breen, and I will show you two of the images shot on ISO 250 and ISO 6400. I recommend the DxOMark test for a more advanced ISO-test, but my short review might be good enough for many of you. The images below are imported into Adobe Lightroom 4 and I have done absolutely NO adjustments at all. Absolutely nothing, just saving the images as jpg-files – one version with the whole image and another version as a 100% crop.
